What are high-volume branding templates?

These are low-cost branding packs that include logos*, business cards, letterhead, invoices, folder designs, CD covers, and more. Many packages are available in vector EPS, Adobe Illustrator AI, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop PSD versions. Most templates cost between $9 and $15 dollars.

Sounds like a fabulous solution for a business that needs low-cost solutions, right? Wrong!

Unfortunately this low-cost solution is only because you are buying a license to the template you select. The company then takes your business information and sets up your files for you and ensures they are printer ready. I know, it still sounds like a great deal…wait for it…

The company makes their money be reselling these templates over and over again. So that means your business isn’t the only one using that fab branding template you just picked out. Nope! It is you and anywhere from 100-1,000 other individuals and businesses!!

So your business may only be paying $15 for your logo*, business card, letterhead, invoice, folder design, and more, but you run the risk of having your brand look just like a competitors.

And why does logo have an * next to it?

You do not get to choose your logo when using a high-volume template

That is because these companies don’t actually let you design your own logo or put your own logo into their templates. Your “logo” will say your business name, but the design elements have already been chosen for you based on whatever template you purchase.

Their templates are super coordinated so that all they have to do is input your information and send back your files. It takes a minimum amount of time and effort on their part for a maximum amount of profit.

How can you get a personalized brand for your business?

A personal designer can work with you to design a complete business brand tailored to your needs and that looks exactly the way you want. Yes it is a bit more expensive, ranging from $300-$1,500 depending on what you need, but you get exact say in what your business needs. And, if you work with a designer like me, you will retain the rights of your business brand. This means you will be the only business with your brand. And, you will be able to have a personalized logo!

I did a Baby Shower Invitation for the Latella Family (information has been changed). The invitation contains a custom designed background and decorative foreground and was printed on custom paper for the family.
