About

Nicole Catherine Flusche was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After graduating with a BA in political philosophy from the University of Dallas and marrying her college sweetheart, Andrew, she moved to Virginia for her husband’s trek through UVa Law. While Andrew was hitting the law books and digging into his legal internships, Nicole decided she wanted to go back to school too–design school.

With her paints, pencils and paper all prepped, Nicole enrolled in the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (AIO). Under the guidance of her professors, she learned to pair her left-brain, meticulous side with her right-brain, artistic side. However, it was not long before Nicole noticed a very serious problem developing–one that could quite possibly mean the end of her artistic career.

In 2007 Nicole was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation in her brain. She began experiencing a wide range of setbacks: from loss of memory and fine motor skills to loss of balance and blackouts. By November of that year she was scheduled for decompression surgery to relieve the pain and regain her fine and gross motor skills.

Because of God and the absolute best neurosurgeon in the world (according to Nicole, and of course that is all that matters) the surgery and physical therapy worked. Nicole and Andrew have since moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia for Andrew’s law practice. Nicole is now a graphic designer, and although she still gets a few headaches and has a little trouble holding fine objects for long periods of time, she is extremely happy creating her artwork.
